Palliative Care Focus

palliative care

Students who participate in the Palliative Care focus of the Chronic Care Clerkship will concentrate on palliative care for individuals who have just been diagnosed, patients in active treatment, and those who have completed therapy or are nearing the end of life. Palliative care medicine treats the whole person, aiming to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the patient and family.

Students will work at a variety of clinical sites, including hospice care sites, and partner with providers in multiple disciplines to care for patients.

Students assigned to the Palliative Care focus will also use the Family Medicine Palliative Care website and the UNIPAC CD as basic instructional material.
